Mollis Airfield (LSMF)

The former military airfield at Mollis offers excellent infrastructure, with a paved runway 1,800 m long and 40 m wide, an operations office and a restaurant.

From Zurich, Mollis can be reached by car or train in around an hour. The airspace around the airfield is still relatively unrestricted, making it an ideal starting point for flights towards the western and eastern Alps, towards Germany via the Ricken Pass and Lake Constance, and into the Swiss Plateau via Einsiedeln and Zug.

The airfield is cleared of snow in winter and is largely free of fog.

Getting here

The drive from Zurich takes around 40 minutes. That makes our airfield an ideal base for aviation enthusiasts from central and north-eastern Switzerland.

The airfield lies between Mollis and Netstal at the entrance to Glarnerland.

Arriving by train
We recommend getting off at Netstal station. You can reach the gliding hangar on foot in about 10 minutes by heading north. Cross the Linth bridge immediately in front of the station and follow the road to the start of the runway. From there, you will already be able to see our hangar on the right-hand side of the runway when looking north. Follow the footpath along the Linth to our hangar.

Arriving by car
From Zurich, follow the signs to Chur and take the A3 to the Nafels exit. Stay on the feeder road and continue to the centre of Netstal, around 6 km. Before the historic Freuler Palace, turn left towards Kerenzerberg/Mollis. After roughly 300 m, cross the railway line and the Linth. Once you have crossed the Linth, you are in Mollis and should turn right immediately. Follow the main road for about 1 km and you will already be at Mollis Airfield.

You will find us about halfway between Mollis and Netstal. After Heli-Linth, turn into the entrance by the Aviatico restaurant and then immediately left again onto the taxiway. After about 200 m, marked parking spaces are located along the taxiway on the left-hand side. From there, you can reach our gliding hangar in 2 to 3 minutes on foot by walking south along the taxiway. At the level of our hangar, you may cross the runway, but please first check for approaching traffic from both left and right.
